Cadbury, KFC, UPS. Everyone is reminding you that today is Valentine’s Day!
Which, of course, got me thinking about love.
Not the roses-and-chocolate kind. 🌹 The kind that quietly shapes how we show up every single day.
I’m talking about your work.
Because I hear a version of the same sentence over and over again from people in financial services: “I didn’t fall out of love with helping people. I fell out of love with the grind.”
And, I understand. The relentless production targets. The compliance layers. The emotional labor of absorbing everyone else’s anxiety about markets, retirement, and debt. The wide gap between the idea of being a trusted human who changes lives and the daily reality of prospecting, service issues, and platform wrestling.
BTW: You didn’t fall out of love with the mission. You fell out of interest in the model. That distinction matters more than we admit.
Falling back in love with your work rarely happens by pushing harder or doing more. It happens by reconnecting with why you started in the first place and by reshaping how your work shows up in the world.
When your personal brand is rooted in purpose and genuine service, something subtle but powerful shifts. Your job stops feeling like a scoreboard you are constantly chasing and starts working with you instead of against you. The right people begin to find you. The conversations feel more meaningful. The work feels aligned again. And suddenly, it matters in the way it was always meant to.
You matter. Your work matters. The humans you serve absolutely matter.
If you are ready to remember that, SWAY | LIVE BOULDER (August 2–4) is intentionally designed as a room full of thoughtful, slightly rebellious professionals who are done with the 2001-style conference loop and ready to fall back in love with what they do, in a more human, more purposeful way.
💜 Happy Valentine’s Day to all of us still figuring it out.
